Terms of Service

Sieve Cook · Effective date: July 11, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Tara Holloway, an individual operating Sieve Cook ("we," "us," "our"), governing your use of the Sieve Cook app (the "Service"). By checking "I agree" at sign-up, or by otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Sieve Cook is a recipe library and log for recipes you already found elsewhere — AI chats, social posts, websites, screenshots, or pasted text. It imports them, saves the original source, and stores the recipe in a searchable library. The "Ask" feature can answer questions about recipes you have saved, propose edits or substitutions to them, and add a saved recipe's own ingredients to a "Groceries" list (via Apple Reminders), always subject to your review and explicit approval before anything is changed or added.

The Service is not a meal planner, a recipe discovery or food-magazine app, a nutrition tracker, an AI chef that invents recipes, a social recipe app, or a generic chatbot, and it will never be represented as providing medical, dietary, or professional culinary advice. Ask is designed for working with recipes you've already saved, not for generating unrelated recipes from scratch or creating multi-day meal plans.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. If you are not old enough to form a binding contract where you live, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Accounts are created and authenticated through Clerk, our authentication provider. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@verenu.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

The Service is not currently offered to individuals in the European Union or the United Kingdom. This is a scoping decision based on the additional regulatory regimes that apply there, not a reflection on those regions — we expect to support the EU and UK at a later date. By creating an account or using the Service, you represent that you are not located in, and are not ordinarily resident in, the European Union or the United Kingdom. We may suspend or terminate access and remove any account we determine was created from, or is being used from, either region.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the recipes and notes you import or create in your library ("Your Content"). By importing content, you represent that you have the right to save a personal copy of it for your own reference. Recipes you import from third-party sources may remain protected by copyright belonging to their original authors or platforms — Sieve Cook stores a personal copy for your own use and makes no claim over, and takes no responsibility for, the underlying rights in imported source material.

You grant us the limited right to store, process, and display Your Content back to you as necessary to operate the Service (for example, running extraction on pasted or imported text, or displaying your library). We don't use Your Content to train AI models, and we don't sell it.

You are responsible for the content and links you submit to Sieve Cook. By submitting a URL, screenshot, pasted text, AI-chat share link, social post, or other source material for import, you represent that you have the right to access that material and to use Sieve Cook to save a personal copy for your own recipe library. Sieve Cook does not grant you any rights to third-party content. You are responsible for complying with any terms, policies, copyright restrictions, access rules, or other obligations that apply to the third-party source you submit — we are not responsible for your decision to submit or save third-party content through the Service.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may refuse, limit, block, remove, or disable imports from specific sources, domains, URLs, or categories of content at any time if we believe doing so is necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, respect third-party rights, avoid abuse, or reduce operational risk.

5. Usage limits

Free and paid plans may include limits on imports, Ask messages, saved recipes, storage, or other features. Current limits, if any, are shown in the app. We may apply reasonable rate limits or fair-use limits to prevent abuse, protect service reliability, or control unusually high automated usage.

6. AI features — please read this section

Sieve Cook uses AI (including third-party models) to extract recipes from pasted text, imported URLs, or screenshots, and to power the "Ask" feature's answers, proposed edits, and substitutions. AI-generated or AI-extracted content can be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong — including ingredient names, quantities, units, cook steps, substitutions, and anything else it touches.

You are solely responsible for reviewing any recipe, edit, substitution, or proposal — including checking ingredients, quantities, and substitutions for allergens, food safety, and suitability for your own diet or health needs — before cooking, eating, shopping from, or otherwise relying on it. The Service does not verify recipes for food safety, allergens, nutritional accuracy, or medical suitability, and nothing in the Service constitutes medical, dietary, allergy, or professional culinary advice. Every Ask proposal requires your explicit approval before anything is written to your library or a Groceries list — but that approval step does not substitute for your own judgment about whether the content is safe and appropriate for you to act on.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any recipe, extraction, or AI output will be accurate.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tara Holloway and Sieve Cook will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from or related to your use of the Service — including, without limitation, any illness, allergic reaction, injury, property damage, or financial loss resulting from a recipe, substitution, extraction, or any other AI-generated or AI-assisted content. To the extent any liability isn't excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) CAD $50, or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

9. Payments

Sieve Cook may offer both free and paid plans. Paid plans and any subscriptions are sold and processed exclusively through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Prices, limits, renewal terms, and included features for any paid plan will be shown in the app before purchase. We don't process payments or store payment details ourselves — Apple does. Amounts paid, and any unused purchased usage or entitlements, are not refundable by us; refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's App Store terms and applicable law.

10. Suspension, termination, and revoking access

You may stop using the Service, and delete your account and data, at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at our discretion — with or without notice — if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, misused the Service, or posed a risk to us, other users, or our service providers. We may also discontinue or modify the Service (or any feature of it) at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately; sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 6–9, 11, and 12) will survive.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to first contact us at hello@verenu.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.

12. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; if we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Contact
